LETHBRIDGE: The City of Lethbridge is peddling forward with its new Cycling Master plan.

The $240,000 plan will kick off Monday with a resident phone survey.

Transportation Engineer Adam St. Amant says the initiative aims to make Lethbridge an easier place to bike in.

A cross – section of approximately 400 people will be surveyed over the next three weeks with more forms of public consultation to take place this year.

The plan will primarily look at on-street infrastructure to add to existing bikeways and pathways.

City Councillor Blaine Hyggen, who is an avid cyclist, says “the idea of creating safer, more convenient ways of cycling in Lethbridge is an exciting, forward-thinking initiative for our city.”

The planning process is expected to last until the end of the year.
