Former U-of-L Employee Receives 9-Month Sentence for Internal Theft

LETHBRIDGE: Richard Douglas Lutwick is heading to jail for the next nine months for stealing over $59,000 from parking meters at the University of Lethbridge.

The 59-year old was sentenced Thursday, after pleading guilty to a charge of theft over $5,000 in October. He admitted to the thefts between December of 2012 and November 2014, while he was employed as the parking manager at the university.

The crime came to light in October of 2014, when Regional Police started investigating suspicious banking activity that involved Lutwick.

In addition to jail time, he will also have to repay the $59,000 he took.
