FORT MACLEOD – The Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a gift to a Fort Macleod organization.

The Fort Macleod Kids First Family Centre (KFFC) in coordination with the Livingstone Range School Division (LRSD), received $50-thousand to help with the completion of their new building.

Executive Director for the foundation, George Hall, explains that once the building is complete, the school district will cover any extra expenses. He says it’s not only a good financial investment for the foundation, but a good investment for the good of the community.

The facility will give them the space to introduce some new programming. It’ll have a teaching kitchen for adult programming, a community garden and a play area for parents to bring their children to for free.

“It’s a dream come true! We’ve talked about having our own space for years and years. I honestly never thought that it would actually happen. We couldn’t do it if LRSD hadn’t agreed to help us in this process. The timing was just perfect,” enthused the Facilitator of Familly Support Programs, Trish Hoskin.

This will also help the centre with matching donations, which can take them to $250-thousand in additional funds. The total estimated cost of the project is $1.7-million.
