Former NHLer Salvador Back In Lethbridge to Headline Hurricanes’ 10th Annual Celebrity Dinner

Jan 21, 2016 | 3:09 PM

The guest of honour at the Lethbridge Hurricanes’ 10th Annual Celebrity Dinner is a perfect example of a community produced hockey player.

Bryce Salvador played all five of his junior seasons with the Hurricanes, 311 games, before spending 14 seasons in the NHL with the New Jersey Devils and the St. Louis Blues.

Salvador says he made very special connections with families he billeted with and people he met.

“The Yoshioka family,Ken and Ruby, they watched me when I was here and they still have [season] tickets and I’ve been spending time with them here. They gave me my first job! To go from that to meeting my wife here and being drafted here, and experiencing the Memorial Cup. I got my money’s worth that’s for sure.”

Salvador says he returned to Enmax Centre for the first time since being a player.

He had a chance to speak to the Hurricane players and told them to enjoy the experience and success they are having right now.

The Hurricanes are atop the WHL’s Eastern Conference with a 34-12 record.

Salvador also warned the young athletes that the road to the NHL isn’t always an easy one but continue to work hard.

He will speak at the Celebrity Dinner on Friday at Coast Hotel before the Hurricanes hold “Salvador Night” on Saturday.
