LETHBRIDGE – Construction will be moving forward this spring for Legacy Park.

Lethbridge City Council granted a $1.5-million construction tender yesterday to Ossa Terra Ltd.

Last spring, some initial work began with a rough grading of the area for the ground layout. Mayor Chris Spearman says this next step takes care of all the necessary infrastructure before the park can be fully landscaped and completed.

“Residents can be proud of the fact that in Lethbridge we have more maintained space per capita than any other city in Canada. This will be the largest park in Lethbridge,” Spearman added.

“I’m excited for the people of north Lethbridge, and I think it’s going to spur on development in that area.”

Once finished, the 73-acre park will include things like sports fields, picnic facilities and playgrounds, among many other amenities.

Work is set to begin in early April, with the public opening to follow in the spring of 2018.
