LETHBRIDGE – Alberta Party Leader Greg Clark made a stop in Lethbridge on Wednesday.

During a tour of the Lethbridge Research Centre, Clark was impressed with the level of collaboration between the provincial and federal government, as well as with producers and local companies. He believes there’s a real opportunity for this province in agri-food and agri-business.

Clark also had a chance to sit down with the Mayor and members of City Council. They discussed a number of issues that are important to Lethbridge including water management and supply issues.

In the evening, Clark met with local residents at a public gathering.

“What’s, I think, really pretty lucky and remarkable is that Lethbridge is the resilience and the diversity of the economy. There’s a lot of people hurting, even in and around Lethbridge, but the diverse economy certainly seems to of served Lethbridge well and that’s a message I heard over and over again,” explains Clark.

He adds there is also still a fair amount of anger and confusion about Bill 6, which is which is a concern he shares with farmers. Clark voted against the Bill because he felt it was badly written and didn’t take into account the views of farmers and ranchers.

Clark says the information he receives while touring the province will help as the Alberta Party creates an innovation strategy and will be a benefit when the legislature resumes so he can ask good questions, pass smart legislation, and stand up for the interests of the people of Alberta.
