Pronghorn’s Basketball: Men Continue Homestand, Women Welcome 12-1 Pandas

Jan 28, 2016 | 3:18 PM

The Pronghorn women’s basketball team welcomes the 12-1 and CIS 6th ranked University of Alberta Pandas for two contests this weekend.

The games will go at 6:00pm on Friday, and 5:00pm Saturday, at 1st Choice Savings Centre.

Saturday night’s match marks the ‘Horns annual ‘Shoot for a Cure’ game.

The ‘Horns will wear their pink uniforms, warming up with the unique Wilson CIS Shoot For the Cure basketballs, and holding a 50-50 draw during the Men’s game that follows.

All proceeds from the 50-50 draw go to the Canadian Cancer Society for the battle against breast cancer.

The ‘Horns will have their hands full as the Pandas built their win streak to six last weekend, with 64-54 and 59-44 wins in Brandon against the Bobcats.

Elsewhere, the men are at home for a couple of games against the University of Alberta Golden Bears.

This as they are coming off a weekend split with the Manitoba Bisons at home.

The games versus the Golden Bears will go down at 1st Choice Savings Centre on Friday at 8:00pm, and Saturday at 7:00pm.

The Golden Bears were perfect last weekend in Manitoba.

Both teams are fighting for playoff positioning as the ‘Horns sit in fifth in the Pioneer Division with a 7-5 record but are tied with Alberta (7-6), Winnipeg(7-5) and Victoria(7-7) with seven wins a piece.

Only the top seven in the Pioneer division will qualify for the post season.
