LETHBRIDGE – This year marks the 7th annual Care from the Heart Radio-a-Thon.

Six local stations will band together in support of the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation. All will be running live broadcasts from the hospital’s atrium, from 7-am to 6-pm on Thursday, February 11.

Since the fundraiser began back in 2009, over $1.3-million have been raised. This year’s goal is to raise over $230-thousand.

Executive Director for the foundation, Jason Vandenhoek, explained how the money is used. “All the money that the foundation raises is used to enhance the care provided at Chinook Regional Hospital. This year and the last few years, that money’s been put towards the hospital’s re-development project… It’s been used to enhance those spaces and make them as comfortable as possible for our patients.”

Balog Auction also held a special cattle auction on February 3, and managed to raised $45-thousand for the foundation in just 12 minutes.

“Every family, at some point in time, are going to be needing the hospital. Our feeling is if you live in a community, you need to give to that community,” said Honourary Chair, Bob Balog, of his involvement.
