More Spring Snow Could Help Farmers

Feb 17, 2016 | 9:20 AM

ALBERTA – They’ve been enjoying the mild winter, but Alberta farmers are hoping for a little more snow, but a little closer to spring would be better.

Humphrey Banack is vice-president of the Canadian Federation of Agriculture. He says farmers would like to see a bit more of a snowpack to ensure 2016 is a good growing year.

But he says light snow in April or May would be just as good as getting four feet right now.

Banak says moisture maps of the province show the soil in most areas is in good shape. However, parts of the Peace River region are looking a little dry.
