Lethbridge Swimmer Wins Bronze at Speedo Western Canadian Open

LETHBRIDGE: The Bridge City’s Rachel Nichol swam to a bronze medal Thursday in the women’s 200 -m breaststroke at the 2016 Speedo Western Canadian Open.

Nichol finished with a time of 2:28.44 at Winnipeg’s Pan Am Pool behind Kierra Smith of Kelowna B.C. and hometown girl Kelsey Wog who had times of 2:26.15 and 2:27.94 respectively.

Nichol is also participating in the women’s 50-m breaststroke, 100-m breaststroke, 200-m individual medley, and 200-m medley relay at the event.

The 2016 Speedo Western Canadian Open runs through Sunday and precedes the Swimming Canada’s Olympic Trials that are April 5-10 in Toronto.
