Winning Weekend for Kodiaks

LETHBRIDGE – Two Kodiaks sports teams had a strong weekend.

The women’s basketball team defended their top-ranking across Canada on Saturday night. They beat Ambrose College 88-38, and finished with a perfect 21-0 overall regular season record. They now advance to the Alberta College’s Athletic Conference (ACAC) championship in top spot for the south division.

Both the men’s and women’s indoor track teams also took home a number of medals over the weekend.

The women finished just behind MacEwan University overall in ACAC standings with 57 points.

Rachel McKenzie, who won three bronze medals, led the charge. Caylee Vogel also had quite the weekend with a pair of bronze medals in the 300 and 600m. Both competed with the silver medal relay team, as well.

The men’s team made a silver medal performance, as well. They had 63 points overall, placing them behind Concordia. Evan Brown (600m), Moses Chesseret (1000m) and Boaz Korir (1500m) had the three individual silver medals.

Meanwhile, Andrew Harding earned two bronze in the 1500 and 3000m. The 4x400m relay team also picked up a silver medal honour.
