Robotic Milking System ‘Moo’ving Industry Forward

Feb 29, 2016 | 3:03 PM

LETHBRIDGE – Technology advancements in the agriculture field were on display last week during Ag Expo at Exhibition Park.

Chinook Dairy Service was showcasing a robotic milking system.

It allows cows to enter on their own as they’re attracted by feed in a troff. The system identifies which cow is in the box, and if she needs to be milked, it will automatically attach the milk machine under the cow with the help of cameras. The milk that’s collected also passes through a series of sensors to determine if there are any problems before it enters the milk tank.

Salesman Corne Vandehaar says a multi-box system can milk up to 100 cows three times a day.
