Lethbridge Police Arrest Man Wanted on Canada Wide Warrant

LETHRBIDGE:   Police have their man. 38-year old David Fomradas was arrested at a north side home early Monday morning.

Fomradas is awaiting processing and will be transported back to B.C.

On March 3rd, City police notified local residents after Fomradas was reported on an unauthorized absence from a Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in Coquitlam B.C. on February 10th.

When Fomradas didn’t return to the outpatient facility, a Canada wide warrant was issued. Since the man was originally from Lethbridge and still has ties to the community it was believed he would return here. It was also noted he could be violent when not taking his medication and shouldn’t be approached.

This case prompted Lethbridge Police to tighten dispatch protocols, after concern was raised on social media over the time it took officers to respond to a report that Fomradas was seen at a local fast food establishment last week.

A call came in to dispatch just before 6:00 on the morning of March 7th, reporting that a man wanted on a Canada wide warrant, was currently at the Scenic Drive McDonalds. Dispatch staff were able to determine the caller was referring to Fomradas.

Eight minutes after the initial call, dispatch was advised the subject had left the restaurant, and the call was placed in pending. An officer was eventually dispatched to follow-up at 7:20 a.m.
