Hurricanes Wrap their final Regular Season Home Game with a 9-3 Win

LETHBRIDGE:   A total of 5320 fans were on hand to watch the Hurricanes nail the Central Division title with 9-3 Win over the Medicine Hat Tigers, as the two teams wind down their regular season.

The Canes planted the first goal at 8:39 thanks to Ryley Lindgren with Ben Duperreault following with a second goal five minutes later.

The second period opened with the Canes tallying a third goal, this one form Cory Millette on a power play.   The Tigers made it onto the score sheet two minutes later and the home team followed with goals from Tyler Wong and Brayden Burke.  The second frame ended with a score of 5-1 in favour of the Hurricanes.

Action heated up in the third period, with Brayden Burke logging his second goal of the game at the 6:12 mark. The Tigers followed with two power play goals less than a minute apart at 11:03 and 11:51, taking the score to 6-3 for the Canes.

The Tigers pulled their goalie with just over four minutes left in the game and the Canes took full advantage of the opportunity as Colton Kroeker fired in the puck at 15:33. Just a minute later, the frenzied crowd erupted as Goalie Stuart Skinner sent the puck flying down the ice into the net for his own goal.

The final goal of the night came from Ryan Vandervlis 

The Tigers out-shot the Canes 41-31 but, the home team logged 31 penalty minutes to the Tiger’s 15. Most of the Hurricane penalties came in the third period with 19 minutes tagged to D-man Darian Skeoch, including a 5-minute major for fighting and a 10 minute misconduct.

The Hurricanes and the Tigers finish of their regular season Saturday night at the Canalta Centre in Medicine Hat.
