Two City Men Charged in Weapon Assault Incident on City’s North side

LETHBRIDGE:  A fight and weapon incident on the north side Sunday evening, has resulted in two men being charged.

Around 5:15-pm Sunday, Police were called to a condo complex in the 800 block of 20th Street North. A fight between a man and woman resulted in the woman being cut on the hand and stabbed in the back.

The situation escalated when two men who were known to the woman arrived and attacked the first male in the parking lot.

During the fight a BB handgun was produced by one of the men and before police could arrive the group fled from the area in separate vehicles. The vehicles were located a short distance away and everyone was taken into custody except for the first man with the knife who had fled on foot.

The woman was treated in hospital for minor cuts and released.

The man who produced the handgun, 36-year old Jason Styra of Lethbridge, was charged with one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of the first male who was not immediately located.  However, 35-yer old Daniel Magnus was arrested on Monday and faces charges of assault with a weapon, uttering threats and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

All the individuals involved are known to each other and the weapons involved in the altercation were recovered by Police.
