Police Set to Reveal Person of Interest in Lethbridge Homicide

Apr 19, 2016 | 9:35 PM

LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge Police Service has scheduled a media availability for Wednesday afternoon, in connection with the murder of 78-year old Irene Carter.

They have noted that they need public assistance in locating a person of interest/witness, with the availability set to get underway at 1-pm in Calgary.

Carter’s body was found in her south side home in January, with an autopsy confirming it was a homicide and that she died from stab wounds.

The development follows a press conference in Calgary earlier this month, in which Carter’s daughter, Lisa Freihaut, made a plea to the community for more information in the case.

After Freihaut’s statement, Sergeant Ryan Stef with the Lethbridge Police Violent Crimes Unit took questions. He explained that they had a great deal of evidence from the scene, but wasn’t willing to elaborate on any of it or say whether they had any potential suspects. He also couldn’t say what the motive may have been at that point.

Lethbridge News Now will provide an update immediately following Wednesday’s press conference.
