LETHBRIDGE:    Never mind spring, it appears summer has arrived early in Alberta.

A total of 34 temperature records across the province were broken on Tuesday, including one in Calgary that had stood for 106 years.

The temperature at that city’s airport reached 27.5, while it was a tenth of a degree warmer at Canada Olympic Park.

The old record for Calgary on April 19th was 26.7 degrees, set in 1910.

However, the highest temperature in Alberta and Canada on Tuesday was the 29.3 degrees set at Drumheller.

Several other communities set records.

Claresholm hit 27.2, breaking the record of 26.7 set in 1962.

Pincher Creek got up to 26.5, which was ahead of the 25.6 set in 1962 and Waterton Park hit 23.8, which broke the record of 20-degrees, set in 1989.

Although not a record, Lethbridge’s temperature hit 27 degrees on Tuesday.
