Charges Laid After Large Drug and Weapons Bust

LETHBRIDGE – Five people are facing charges after a significant drug and dangerous weapons bust in Fort Macleod.

During the early morning of April 22, Fort Macleod executed a search warrant at a residence on 26 Street and 4 Avenue.

The following were seized:

– 88 grams of powder cocaine

– 65 grams of crack cocaine

– 7 grams of cannabis marijuana

The drugs came to a total estimated street value of $15,000.

Fort Macleod RCMP also found two rifles, another prohibited firearm, a machete, a knife, and approximately $1,000 in cash.

Kimberly Creighton of Fort Macleod, 56, has been charged with possession of cocaine and crack cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of weapons dangerous to the public peace and possessing of a firearm without a licence.

Wacey Creighton of Fort Macleod, 30, has been charged with possession of cocaine and crack cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking a controlled substance, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and possessing a firearm without a licence.

Sherman Laboucan of Wabasca, 38, is also facing two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, possession of a firearm without a licence and breach of a probation order.

Mekdela Kitaw of Calgary, 21, faces two counts of trafficking a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, possession of a firearm without a licence and breach of a prohibition order.

Khawa JANY of Calgary, 19, faces two counts of trafficking a controlled substance, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and possession of a prohibited weapon without a licence.

Both Kimberly and Wacey Creighton are to appear in Fort Macleod Provincial Court on June 1, while the rest will be in Lethbridge Court on April 25th.
