LETHBRIDGE – A trial date has been set for a 57-year old Halifax man, charged in a sexual assault case dating back to 2004.

Michael Charles Chute is accused of sexually assaulting three young girls in Lethbridge, while staying with one of the victim’s families that summer.

In May of 2005, police began investigating a report that a man had sexually assaulted a 9-year old girl. It’s alleged the man also assaulted two of the girl’s female friends, who were aged 9 and 11.

Chute had moved out of the home by that point, and while a warrant was issued for his arrest, it wasn’t until April of 2015 that members of the Priority Crimes Unit were able to locate him in Halifax, Nova Scotia. With help from the Halifax Police Service, Chute was arrested and transported back to Alberta.
