LETHBRIDGE – A 28-year old Lethbridge woman has been charged with second degree murder, in connection with the death of her mother.

Around 9:40-pm on April 28, police were called to a report that a 54-year old woman, identified as Shelley Kristine Praill, had been stabbed at a home along the 2300 block of 18 Street North. She was found inside the home and sent to the Chinook Regional Hospital with life threatening injuries. She died a short time later in hospital.

The victim’s daughter, Jessica Lee Ann Praill, was arrested at the scene without incident.

An autopsy Friday morning in Calgary then confirmed that she died from a stab wound.

Police say their investigation shows the victim had been involved in an argument that resulted in her being stabbed.

Praill has been charged with second degree murder and is awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
