Lethbridge Hurricanes Busy at WHL Bantam Draft

CALGARY – The Lethbridge Hurricanes walked away from the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft in Calgary on Thursday with 12 new players, taking six forwards, four defenceman and two goaltenders.

The club used their first round pick, 19th overall, to select forward Dylan Cozens from the Delta Hockey Academy. The 6’2 centre, originally from Whitehorse, Yukon, put up 31 points in 25 games with Delta this season.

With pick number 41 they took defenceman Nolan Jones from the Moose Jaw Warriors Bantam AAA.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes then dealt goaltender Jayden Sittler and a 5th round pick to the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for a 3rd (52nd overall) and 7th (140th overall) round pick.

Sittler spent parts of two seasons with the Hurricanes after joining the team at the 2015 trade deadline from Victoria. In 59 games with the local team, Sittler posted a record of 25-26-0-1 along with a 3.39 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.

Using Spokane’s 3rd rounder, the Hurricanes selected defenceman Kirby Proctor.
