Community Leaders Granted Opportunity to Experience Everyday Barriers to Accessibility

May 14, 2016 | 8:25 AM

LETHBRIDGE – Community leaders will be wheeling throughout their workday from May 24th to the 27th.

Chair-Leaders in the Lethbridge community have volunteered to use a wheelchair for one workday while they go about their business to raise awareness for the Spinal Cord Injury Alberta.

The 4th annual CHAIR-LEADERS “Enabling Access” Event, presented by the Spinal Cord Injury and sponsoring partner Stringam LLP, will take place in Lethbridge with the intention of being an eye-opener for participants.

All participants will have the eye-opening opportunity to experience the barriers persons with disabilities face on a daily basis by spending the day in a wheelchair and recognize accessibility issues in Lethbridge.

The campaign hopes to raise awareness of issues surrounding mobility, independence, and self-reliance within the city of Lethbridge.

Funds collected during the special event will be used to help the Spinal Cord Injury Alberta continue to expand services to clients in our communities.
