High River goes Hollywood with New Series to be Shot in Town

HIGH RIVER – The sleepy town of High River will come to life starting this June for a new television series titled “Tin Star,” produced by Kudos Film and Television.

The series was created by acclaimed British director and screenwriter Rowan Joffe who described the series as “an epic tale of deception, betrayal , murder and revenge set against the backdrop of remote and beautiful Canadian mountain town.”

“Tin Star,” includes notable actors like Tim Roth; who is known for his roles in ‘The Hateful Eight,’ ‘Pulp Fiction’ and ‘Reservoir Dogs’ and Christina Hendricks, who is known for her roles in ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Drive.’

The High River filming location for the first season of this series and will be inside the old Vespucci’s building at 111 3 Avenue S.W.

This location will be used for a variety of sets in the show and filming will begin in mid-June and run through until the end of November, 2016.

As most filming will be indoors it is anticipated that there will be minimal disruptions to businesses and residents.

Local residents and home owners have also been approached about the possibility of their homes being used in this production.

Production crews expect that half of their production schedule will be filming in High River and the other half spent in the Foothills Area, Kananaskis Country, Stoney Nation and Waterton Lakes National Park.
