Alberta expands poacher hotline to include abuse of public lands

May 20, 2016 | 2:58 PM

EDMONTON – Alberta is launching a Report A Poacher line so people can notify officials about abuse of public lands or waterways.

The province says people should call the 24-hour line if they see campers dumping garbage or off-highway vehicles tearing up land or streams.

Starting this May long weekend, the government says it will be bringing in extra resources for public lands, especially in areas that need stronger enforcement of bans and restrictions over the summer.

Conservation officers, Fish and Wildlife officers and park rangers will be patrolling the backcountry and parks, supported by R-C-M-P.
