DaCapo Program Celebrates 30 Years of Service

May 23, 2016 | 8:27 AM

LETHBRIDGE – The Italian term DaCapo means “repeat from the beginning”, which has become a staple philosophy for the Lethbridge Family Services DaCapo program over the past 30 years.

The program, which provides life and employment skills to individuals living with disabilites, celebrated the milestone on May 18.

Dianne Kotkas, DaCapo Director, said that the program started out with just a handful of staff and around 20 clients. That has since grown to over 100 staff and contractors that provide services to nearly 400 individuals.

“When we started the program, we had a handful of staff and about 20 clients. Looking at the statistics this year, we have a staffing compliment of over 100 staff and contractors, and provided services to 397 individuals,” noted Dianne Kotkas, DaCapo Director.

She added that over 5-million hours of service have been put in over that time, and couldn’t be happier to see the positive results for the clients.

Kotkas was particularly grateful for the community support and donations the program continues to receive, saying LFs will continue to provide community inclusion opportunities and support for years to come.
