Wildrose Lifts Suspension on Strathmore-Brooks MLA

May 31, 2016 | 2:32 PM

EDMONTON – An Alberta Wildrose legislature member suspended for an inappropriate comment on social media about Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne is back in the fold.

The Wildrose announced in a statement that Derek Fildebrandt has agreed to make changes to how he conducts himself on social media.

Fildebrandt was suspended late Friday night after he endorsed a comment on his Facebook page that mocked the sexuality of Wynne, who is openly gay.

Fildebrandt apologized for the comment.

He says he is not homophobic and will now hire a social media manager.

There were media reports that Fildebrandt would also have to attend anger management classes and resign his role as finance critic, but the Wildrose says those reports were false.
