Four New Rainbow Crosswalks Around Galt Gardens Honouring Lethbridge Pride

Jun 13, 2016 | 10:24 AM

LETHBRIDGE – You can now follow the Rainbow into Galt Gardens.

On Monday (June 13th), four intersections around Galt Gardens were painted in rainbow formation.

The highly visible nod comes the morning after supporters gathered for a candle light vigil at City Hall to honour the victims of Orlando’s deadly massacre at a Gay Nightclub.

Levi Cox, President of Lethbridge Pride Fest, said that the sidewalks go along with other crosswalks that have been painted in other communities across the province.

“Especially with the tragedy that happened yesterday, this is such a nice symbol of peace, love and diversity in our community. This is our eighth pride, our biggest celebration yet and it is just a beautiful symbol.”

These rainbow crosswalks will be seen by pedestrians and motorists alike as well as attendees at Lethbridge Pride Fest’s Pride in the Park at Galt Gardens on June 25th, 2016.

Pride Fest members paid for the biodegradable paint that will fade and wear away in one month, out of pocket.

“We are pleased to partner with Lethbridge Pride Fest on the painting of these crosswalks,” said Mayor Chris Spearman.
