Free Testing Offered to Ensure Safe Drinking Water

ALBERTA – Those with private drinking water supplies can be most at risk for waterborne-illnesses, so testing is of the utmost of importance, that from Alberta Health Services (AHS).

That being said, AHS offers testing free of charge, and it recommends you do so at least twice a year. They can test for bacteria, nitrates, fluoride, iron, sodium and heavy metals, in some cases.

AHS says testing is particularly important when surface water becomes contaminated by melting snow or heavy rain.

Residents who use surface water or cisterns can arrange for a sample container of water to be picked up.
