Alberta’s Opposition Addresses Local Business Concerns

Jun 24, 2016 | 5:31 PM

LETHBRIDGE – Alberta’s Official Opposition leader, Brian Jean, met with Lethbridge business owners Friday afternoon, and some concerns with NDP initiatives are weighing heavy on their minds.

The top two Jean pointed out were the newly introduced carbon tax, and the government’s large amount of debt. He stated Alberta now has the highest business tax.

Jean told media that he visited with a local company that ships its products all over North America. That company now feels it can’t be competitive because of the carbon tax, and will also be forced to lose three or four employees to accommodate for new costs.

“I’m trying to reassure them that in three years, there will be another option, and that option is a Wildrose party that has consolidated Conservatives right across the province to form a movement that will win the hearts and minds of Albertans,” noted Jean.

“We can bring in fiscal discipline, and frankly, the things that taxpayers want, which is their government to provide the opportunity for them to do better for themselves.”

He noted that he plans to keep the conversation open from this point, travelling across the province to hold town halls and other important meetings with multiple communities.
