LETHBRIDGE – The Southwest Little League (SWLL) AAA Major Allstars will host 10 teams from across Alberta at the 2016 Major Alberta Divisionals in Lethbridge at Canola Harvest Field from July 22-28.
The following teams will be participating at the tournament:
· Southwest (Host)
· Bow Ridge (Calgary)
· Calgary South
· Calgary West
· Confederation Park (Edmonton)
· Fish Creek (Calgary)
· Foothills (Calgary)
· Medicine Hat
· Norcrest (North Lethbridge & County of Lethbridge)
· Rocky Mountain (Calgary)
The Opening Ceremonies will be held at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday at Canola Harvest followed by the host SWLL AAA Major Allstars playing Bow Ridge from Calgary at 5 p.m.
The winner of this tournament will represent Alberta at the 2016 Little League Canadian Championship in Vancouver from Aug. 4 to 13 competing for the chance to represent Canada at the 2016 Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.
The schedule for Saturday is as follows:
· Saturday 9:30-11:30 a.m. – Confederation Park vs. Calgary South
· Saturday 5-7 – Southwest vs. Bow Ridge
The tournament is double knockout format, meaning that as soon as a team loses its second game it is eliminated from the tournament.
Games are scheduled at 3 and 6 p.m. on Monday through Wednesday with the championship game on Thursday, July 28 at 1 p.m.
