Teenage Girl Dies Following Crash in West Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE – A 17-year-old girl has died following a three-vehicle collision on Westside Drive south of Highway 3 on Monday.

Police say a southbound car was rear-ended by a truck around 3:15pm. The initial impact pushed the car into the northbound lane, where it was hit a second time by a northbound truck.

Both occupants of the car were transported to hospital. The 16-year-old driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but a 17-year-old female passenger sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was flown to a Calgary hospital by STARS, however, she died overnight from her injuries.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
