Historic Mormon Trail to Step Back in Time with Traveling Roadshow

Aug 6, 2016 | 9:08 AM

LETHBRIDGE – A traveling roadshow is taking place in the historic Mormon Trail next week.

In the late 1800s, Mormon settlers were invited to make the trek north into Canada from Utah and succeeded in building the first irrigation canal of its kind in this country.

The Chautauqua Revival tour will pay homage to the traveling shows of a century ago.

The tour will go through Stirling on August 10, Magrath on the 11th, Raymond on the 12th and Cardston on the 13th.

The Cardston Civic Centre will also be staging “Are We Not All Strangers,” an original musical about those early days in Southern Alberta. The play will run for the four days of the Chautauqua.

There is no entry fee for the tour but tickets for the musical can be purchased ahead of time.
