LETHBRIDGE – Cancer patients and caregivers in Lethbridge will no longer be able to access services at the Lethbridge Cancer Society office as of September 30th.

The Canadian Cancer Society has made the decision to close its physical office space in Lethbridge, but insist staff and volunteers will remain active in the community.

“Fewer people are engaging with the Society in our physical office setting,” says Dan Holinda, Executive Director of the Canadian Cancer Society, Alberta/NWT Division. “As online and electronic interactions continue to grow, we realize we can better serve all Canadians living with cancer.”

Holinda said that the commitment to the community will not change for the society and that the move will better serve the increase of cancer patients wishing to access services.

The money originally allocated for a the Lethbridge office lease will now go towards developing new programs and services.

Holinda said that there will be no change in services and the society will continue to offer cancer information services, a peer support program, a wig lending program, volunteer drivers, annual campaigns such as the Relay for Life and Face Off Against Cancer and more.
