Lethbridge Murder Case Expected to Move Forward Next Month

Aug 15, 2016 | 11:45 AM

LETHBRIDGE – There could be progress next month in the case of a 54-year old woman charged with second degree murder.

Jillian Wendy Across the Mountain is accused in the death of 56-year old Frances Candace Little Light.

Around 5:15-pm on February 7, 2016, police responded to a report that a woman had been severely injured in an apartment complex along the 100 block of Columbia Boulevard West. They located the 56-year old victim inside her apartment, and she was pronounced dead a short time later.

An investigation determined Little Light and the accused were intimate partners and had lived together in the apartment where the body was found.

Monday (Aug. 15) morning in court, Across the Mountain’s lawyer explained that they’re still waiting for more disclosure from the Crown, but that they are hoping to set a date for a preliminary inquiry when the case returns to court September 22.

A prelim would determine if there’s enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.
