Yeehaw! Whoop Up Days are Just Around the Corner

Aug 21, 2016 | 10:02 AM

LETHBRIDGE – It’s just days away now, and Lethbridge’s Exhibition Park is ramping up excitement for Whoop Up Days!

There’s a few new things to check out this year.

The rodeo format has been re-designed, and will welcome more than 30 competitors for a Canada versus United States challenge. It’s been re-named Bucking and Barrels for the 2016 show.

There will also be fresh concerts to enjoy every night on the Gas King stage and at Pioneer Park, a huge midway and more than 70 exhibitors in the main pavilion and along Festival Street.

Country 95 is proud to help kick things off on Monday with a $2 pancake breakfast from 7:30-am to 11:00-am, in front of the Sandman Hotel.

The parade then follows on Tuesday at 10:00-am, featuring 112 highly decorated entries. It’s estimated to be one hour and 16 minutes long.

Exhibition Park Marketing Manager, Doug Kryzanowski, says while weather is always a factor, organizers are prepared to keep the fun going.

“It looks pretty promising, but day to day in this area the way the weather’s been going the last two years, who knows? And we’re on emergency preparedness for that… We have a great package lined up for southern Alberta.”

Whoop Up Days 2016 runs through the 27th. For a full list of activities and times, visit the Exhibition Park website.
