City Issues Caution for Cyclist Safety during Scenic Drive North Pathway Bridge Modifications
LETHBRIDGE – The pathway along Scenic Drive North, between downtown and 9 Avenue North, was opened for public use Thursday morning, as the first phase of work was completed.
The next phase of upgrades to the Highway 3 and 5 Avenue North overpasses will include widening the sidewalks, installing higher railings, and installing concrete barriers between the sidewalks and vehicle traffic.
While the City awaits provincial approval to begin the next phase of upgrades, there are some words of caution for cyclists. For their safety, when using the new pathway, cyclists are advised to dismount and cross the overpasses on foot, using the existing pedestrian walkways. Signs have been posted at both overpasses.
Thie new multi-use asphalt pathway completes a missing link in the city’s pathway network between north and south Lethbridge.
