Warrant Issued for Lethbridge Man Charged in Child Porn Sting

LETHBRIDGE – A 42-year old Lethbridge man facing child pornography charges failed to show up for court Friday morning (Sept. 9), resulting in an unendorsed warrant being issued for his arrest.

Defence lawyer, Greg White, who is representing Robert Rogers, explained that he had been unable to contact his client for some time, as Rogers had stopped responding to their emails. White noted that as a result he didn’t have any instructions on how they should proceed.

Rogers was charged last spring with making, possessing and accessing child pornography, following an eight month investigation by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT).

The Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Storm 3 Operation focused on high-level targets that shared large collections of photos and videos on peer-to-peer networks. Ten men were charged across southern Alberta, including Rogers and John Tulloch in Lethbridge.

As a result of 30 search warrants executed by the integrated ICE team, 285 computers, mobile and storage devices were seized, along with 50,000 videos and images.

The images found depicted extreme sexual abuse with victims as young as six-months old. However, it’s believed that none of the victims are from Alberta.

Meanwhile, Tulloch appeared in court on Thursday (Sept. 9) and is due back October 20, at which time it’s anticipated he will enter a plea.
