LETHBRIDGE – Deltec Power and Control Systems Ltd. presented a $200,000 donation to the College on Friday (Sept. 9th), to benefit skilled trades and technologies training.

“We see this as an investment in the current and future tradespeople needed in southern Alberta and throughout our province,” said Al deBoer, co-owner and president of Deltec Power.

“We have been in the business for 23 years. We felt this donation was important because most of our apprentices and journeymen receive their technical training at the college.”

This is the first electrical donation of its kind and the contribution will lead to the creation of the Deltec Power Electrical Lab, which will be located in phase two of the college’s trades and technologies facility.

“It’s a great way to start the semester off.” Paula Burns, Lethbridge College President said.

“It is amazing to see the connections come full circle. This donation will ensure that the students have top of the line equipment and that graduates are prepared to work in their field.”

Apprenticeship Training is one of five programs that will move into the second phase of the facility, which is scheduled to open in August 2017.

Deltec Power is co-owned by a family who took much of their electrical training at the college. The company employees approximately 50 journeymen and apprentice electricians.
