LETHBRIDGE – Lethbridge Police say a single vehicle collision Wednesday night (Sept. 14) was the result of medical distress.

The 64-year old male driver was travelling eastbound on 5 Avenue North around 10 P.M. when he went into medical distress just west of the Stafford Drive intersection. His vehicle went off the road, through a fence and stopped when it collided with equipment in the lot.

Police say witnesses at the scene came to the driver’s aid and called for help. He was unconscious and not breathing when EMS arrived and transported him to the Chinook Regional Hospital in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and no one else was injured as a result of the collision.
