Sep 22, 2016 | 11:42 AM

LETHBRIDGE – A preliminary hearing date has been set for next summer in a murder case dating back to last February.

Jillian Wendy Across the Mountain is accused of second degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of 56-year old Candace Little Light.

Around 5:15-pm on February 7, 2016, police responded to a report that a woman had been severely injured in an apartment complex along the 100 block of Columbia Boulevard West. They located the 56-year old victim inside her apartment, and she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Lethbridge Police recovered the suspected murder weapon a short distance from the apartment complex.

An investigation by Lethbridge Police determined Little Light and the accused were intimate partners and had lived together in the apartment where the body was found. They also found that Little Light had been involved in an argument that escalated, resulting in her death.

The prelim, which will run from July 4-7, 2017, will determine if there’s enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.
