LETHBRIDGE – Lethbridge Police have determined that two men who were reported to have been kidnapped during the early morning hours Saturday, were not in fact abducted and were safely located by police.

On October 8, just after 1:30 a.m. police responded to a report that two men were fighting outside a residence along the 1800 block of 15 Avenue North.

Approximately 15 minutes later the complainant called back to report there were now a group of 20 males in the alley and the two males who had been fighting were abducted and driven away in two vans.

Police attended and upon speaking to the complainant determined she did not actually see anyone get pulled into any vehicles but believed since the two males were gone, they had been abducted by the group.

LPS completed a follow-up investigation which included checks of residences and other locations, a neighborhood canvas of the area the alleged abduction occurred and a number of interviews with individuals who had been with the men earlier in the evening.

Police were able to locate the two men sitting outside a city pool. Both indicated they were okay and confirmed they had not been abducted. The pair explained to police they had walked to a friend’s house and spent the rest of the night there.

Given the concerns about this matter that have been expressed, particularly on social media, police wish to assure the public that allegations of this nature are always taken seriously and thoroughly investigated.
