Community unites behind attack victim with vigil, round dance

Oct 13, 2016 | 4:10 PM

LETHBRIDGE – It’s been two weeks since a 25-year old woman was brutally attacked, and Lethbridge residents have rallied together as she continues to recover in hospital.

The first of two peaceful support events will be hosted at Henderson Lake on Friday (Oct. 14) night. A candelight vigil will be held from 7-pm to 9-pm in the concession area.

Some candles have been donated, but you’re encouraged to bring your own in case there aren’t enough to go around.

The second is a round dance, put on by Communities in Unity. The grassroots organization celebrates diversity in Lethbridge and southern Alberta, and tries to create safe, inclusive communities through awareness and support.

Everyone is invited to Galt Gardens at 6-pm as a demonstration of  collective community care and concern. Local drummers and dancers will lead the dance.
