Hurricanes drop third straight in blowout loss to Pats

Oct 18, 2016 | 10:06 PM

REGINA – Another tough loss for the Lethbridge Hurricanes as they dropped their third straight contest, falling 6-1 to the Regina Pats Tuesday night (Oct. 18).

It was also the second blowout loss in a row at the hands of the Pats, who beat the Hurricanes 7-2 on Saturday (Oct. 15).

Regina opened the scoring at 6:41 of the first period with Sam Steel picking up his eighth goal of the season. They would continue piling on, leading 4-0 before Giorgio Estephan would score the lone Canes goal with just over a minute left in the first. The Pats would add goals in the second and third as they cruised to their seventh win of the season.

The lack of offence from the Hurricanes came despite having ample opportunity with the man advantage, as they would go 0-8 on the power-play. To their credit, the Canes penalty kill was perfect, going 3 for 3.
