Road woes continue as Hurricanes lose fourth in a row

Oct 19, 2016 | 9:57 PM

MOOSE JAW – The Lethbridge Hurricanes losing skid reached four games Wednesday night, as the club fell 3-1 to the Moose Jaw Warriors.

It started with the Hurricanes surrendering the first goal of the game – just 50 seconds in – for the second contest in a row.

Tyler Wong tied things up near the end of the first with his sixth of the season, but Noah Gregor’s second period marker would prove to be the game winner for Moose Jaw. Nikita Popugaev added an empty net goal to ice the game late in the third.

The loss, which saw the Canes outshot 32-22, is part of a growing issue the team is having on the road this season, as they are 0-5 away from the Enmax Centre. In the friendly confines of their own rink, the club is a respectable 4-3.

While their overall record falls to 5-5-1-1, they remain in third place in the Central Division, four points up on the Edmonton Oil Kings.

The Hurricanes will wrap up their three game prairie road trip Friday night (Oct. 21) in Brandon against the Wheat Kings. They will then get a full week off at home before hosting the Prince George Cougars on October 28.
