CALGARY – The Lethbridge Hurricanes will be represented by Giorgio Estephan in the 2016 CIBC Canada Russia Series.

The Western Hockey League (WHL) announced the roster (listed above) for Team WHL Thursday (Oct. 20) morning. They’ll face off in game one against Team Russia on Monday, November 7 in Prince George, BC.

Estephan will then suit up for game two along side Tyler Benson (Vancouver Giants), Sam Steel (Regina Pats), Brendan Guhle (Prince Albert Raiders) and Carter Hart (Everett Silvertips) when they play in Edmonton the next day.

The WHL says the list features a heavy dose of NHL prospects once again, like 2017 prospects Nolan Patrick (Brandon Wheat Kings) and Cal Foote (Kelowna Rockets). Players will be looking to earn a spot on Team Canada for the IIHF World Junior Championships this December.

Tim Hunter, from the Moose Jaw Warriors, will coach Team WHL, while Edmonton Oil Kings head coach, Steve Hamilton, will serve as assistant coach.

Since the competition began in 2003, CHL teams have played to an overall record of 54-18-6 against Team Russia. The rivalry has grown in recent years with four of the last six series decided in the final game.
