Lethbridge man accused of voyeurism pleads guilty to lesser charge

LETHBRIDGE – A trial for a 37-year old Lethbridge man that was set to begin Monday (Oct. 24) was averted last month by a guilty plea to a lesser charge.

Geovanny Alexander Marroquin-Funez was originally charged with voyeurism for a sexual purpose, but had the matter brought forward to September 29 so he could admit to a charge of attempting to observe or visually record nudity.

On June 6, 2016, a 21-year old woman reported to Lethbridge Police that she was in a south side store when a man she didn’t know kept brushing up against her and trying to start a conversation. She ignored him and walked away, but he followed her and used a cell phone to take a picture up her skirt.

The victim provided a description of the man to police and with the help of video from the store’s surveillance system, Marroquin-Funez was identified and charged.
