Nov 11, 2016 | 6:27 AM

LETHBRIDGE – Each Nov. 11, Remembrance Day ceremonies take place across the country and Lethbridge is no exception, as cenotaph ceremonies draw large crows.
The first Remembrance Day ceremony will take place at Lethbridge Exhibition Park South Pavilion from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Next, the public is invited to participate at the Lethbridge Cenotaph at noon.

The Royal Canadian Air Force C-17 Globemaster of the 429 Squadron is scheduled to perform a flyover of the Lethbridge Cenotaph at approximately 12:15 p.m.

After the ceremonies, The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 4 will open their doors at 1 p.m. with members and guests being invited for socialization and a performance by the Taiko Drum Association.

Jeff Alden, Legion Manager and 26 year Veteran says that this time of the year is especially important for next generations to take in important history lessons.

“I feel that if we don’t remember what our veterans fought for the freedoms they gave our people we may be doomed to go back to a time where someone might want to erase those freedoms or take hold of our country.”

The Kainai War Veterans Association will also host a Remembrance Day ceremony at the Kainai Multi Purpose Building starting at 10 a.m. followed by a luncheon and mini Pow Wow.
