CRH Foundation’s Holiday Flare With Christmas Tree Festival

Nov 21, 2016 | 2:52 PM

LETHBRIDGE – O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree. How lovely are thy branches.

That holiday classic seems ever-so-fitting when describing the 24th annual Christmas Tree Festival.

Public viewing to support the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation has now unveiled a forest of decorated trees, wreaths and garlands.

Shonna Lamb, CRH Foundation Development Coordinator, says the event features 25 uniquely decorated trees with everything from an Alice in Wonderland themed tree to one with a decorative nod to the High Level Bridge.

“Last year we saw over 3000 people come through the doors to take in the trees and the Gala itself raised over $130,000, so the community support is tremendous.”

Lamb notes that all proceeds from the event will further support the mission of the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation.

“We have a few projects coming up, in general we disperse about $2-million a year. Two of the major ones are the mental health renovation that is currently underway and we are also investing into women’s health. There will likely be a handful of projects in addition to that.”

Viewing runs until 8:00 p.m. on Nov. 21st followed by a family night with a visit from Santa, children’s activities and a free family skate.

Public viewings will reopen on Nov. 22nd from noon until 8 p.m. with the Gala and Auction taking place on Nov. 23rd at 6:30 pm.

The Festival is being held at the Canadian Western Bank Lounge at the ENMAX Centre.
