LETHBRIDGE – The Pronghorn men’s basketball team returns to home court Thursday (Nov. 24) for just one night as they take on the defending Canada West Champion and U Sports third ranked Calgary Dinos in a home-and-home series.

Tip-off for the opening game at the First Choice Savings Centre is slated for 8:00-pm. The back half of the series is set for Saturday (Nov. 26) night at the Jack Simpson Gymnasium in Calgary at 7:00-pm.

Through three weeks of conference action, the ‘Horns sit in a tie for third place in the conference and enter this weekend with the 10th ranked offence, scoring 76.7 points per night. Defensively, they sit in seventh spot, allowing 75.2 points per.

New comer, Elliott Sentance, continues to impress in his first season with the Pronghorns. He leads the team in scoring with 20.2 points per night, which also has him third on the Canada West scoring list. Dejon Burdeaux and Zac Overwater are both chipping in with 15.2 points per game, as well.

The Dinos (3-1) return to action riding a three game winning streak and have been dominant offensively in their last three games, scoring over 100 points in two of their three wins. They are ranked tops in Canada West offensively, averaging 95.3 points per game.

In their last action, the ‘Horns (4-2) came home with a split against the Winnipeg Wesmen. The men dropped the weekend opener 73-58, before rebounding for a come from behind 78-75 victory.

Following a tough road trip, the Pronghorn women’s team takes on the rival Calgary Dinos Thursday night in Lethbridge, too.

They’ll be at the First Choice Savings Centre Thursday at 6:00-pm, and in Calgary for 5:00pm on Saturday.

Last weekend, the ladies (2-4) suffered their first sweep of the season, losing both games to the undefeated Winnipeg Wesmen.

Through six conference games, the ‘Horns are ranked 12th defensively, allowing 66 points against per night, and ranked 17th offensively, scoring 51.2 points per contest.

Washington product Katie Hankins leads the ‘Horns offensively thus far with 10.2 points per game. Zoe Dahl sits second at 9.5 points per game, while second-year guard Teesha Olson moved up to third after this past weekend and is averaging 8.5 points.

After opening the season with a home sweep over the Manitoba Bisons, the Dinos were swept by the Victoria Vikes on the road two weeks ago.

Both ‘Horns teams will wrap up the first semester of conference action next weekend when they travel to Langley, British Columbia to take on the Trinity Western Spartans.
