STANDOFF – Blood Tribe Police are looking for witnesses as they investigate a single vehicle rollover, in which two people were killed over the weekend.

Around 4:35 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 3), police and the Blood Tribe Ambulance Service responded to the scene on a gravel road near the community of Lavern.

An investigation indicates a 2009 Dodge Dakota truck was traveling on the Bullhorn Road when it lost control, went into the north ditch and rolled. Both occupants were pronounced deceased at the scene, with police noting that neither had been wearing a seatbelt.

They are still working to determine whether alcohol, speed or road conditions played a part in the collision.

Police will not be releasing their names, but did acknowledge that they are both from the Blood Reserve.

Anyone who may have witnessed the rollover or the vehicle prior to the incident, is asked to contact Blood Tribe Police at 403-737-8800 or at tips@bloodtribepolice.com.
